The fire and emergency (FENZ) were called to an accident near Timaru early Saturday morning after being notified by an automatic collision detection device.
A fenz -o’clock door said the original alert at 2:30 am there was no details, and emergency teams usually received these alerts.
But when the emergency teams arrived at the scene at Taiko Road in Cave, they found that a UTE had left the road and was in a ditch.
Hao Hone St John and the police also attended.
The patient was cut off the car shortly before 4 am and taken to Timaru Hospital in a serious condition.

The Fenz website said the feature was designed to detect “serious” accidents. But as it works by detecting a sudden slowdown in speed, emergency services can be alerted for several other reasons.
