Consumer attitudes were destroyed in March, along with decreasing markets and increasing concern about possible recession, according to Michigan University studies on Friday. Attitudes worsened more than economists expected.
The figure marks the third consecutive month of damping user attitudes, data show data.
Expectations for future economic conditions are deteriorating in a number of key areas, including personal finances, labor markets, inflation and stock markets, the study said.
Consumer sentiment was destroyed by both Democrats and Republicans, although it dropped more among Democrats, data show.
On Thursday, s& P 500 closed more than 10% of the peak last month, which means that the decline officially qualified as a market correction. It marks the first correction of the index of October 2023.
The main shares indices recovered some losses in early trading on Friday.
