The Canadian Conservative Party needs controversial comments that surfaced in the campaign, and a new Windsor-Tecumseh-Lakeshore candidate after revoking Councilman Mark McKenzie.
In a podcast in February 2022, Mackenzie expressed support for the death penalty, which seemed to include then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the list of those to be executed.

“I also favor public hanging. I think they need to bring it back,” Mackenzie said in an episode of Mark and Chris Podcast.
“I want public hanging because it’s longer,” Mackenzie said.
“I think they should bring back the electric chairs, too, but only when you’re like a million percent positive, only when you’re sure.”
In the podcast, Mackenzie calls on Canadian serial killer Paul Bernardo to accept the death penalty.
“Just kill that guy. Why did my taxes keep that guy alive? Charles Manson, like that guy.
Mackenzie laughed after making a statement.
Most episodes of the now disabled podcast have been removed from the network.
Rookie Ward 4 MP McKenzie only held a formal campaign on Saturday and is no longer listed as a candidate on the Canadian Conservative Party website.

Some conservative members expressed disappointment when the party’s national leadership bypassed the traditional nomination process and appointed Mackenzie as the liberal incumbent Irek Kusmierczyk riding candidate. Liberal leader Mark Carney convened an April 28 federal election on March 23.
Several people in McKenzie’s campaign office denied the news when asked by Star on Tuesday morning for comment, insisting that the news has not been formal or verified.
But the Conservative Party, the official Canadian campaign website, has removed Mark McKenzie from the list of candidates running for this month’s general election.
In the podcast, McKenzie called Trudeau an “idiot” and discussed “putting your politicians in charge” and “asking questions.”
