Colombian University said on Thursday that students who occupied the Hamilton Hall on the campus during propalist protests last spring were expelled, stopped for several years, or canceled their degrees temporarily.
The sanctions were issued by the Judicial Council of the University of Colombia, the school said.
“The results issued by the UJB are based on its assessment of the gravity of the behavior of these events and previous disciplinary actions,” a university said in a message. “These results are the result of following the in -depth and strict processes set out in the rules of conduct of the University in our Statutes, which include investigations, hearing and discussions.”
The university did not say how many students were affected by sanctions.
At the end of April 2024, the prololest protesters occupied the Hamilton Hall hours after giving up the dispersal order. The barricades were created by protesters outside the occupied building. NYPD officials attacked the hall and arrested dozens of protesters.

In June 2024, the Manhattan District Prosecutor’s Office moved to dismiss the allegations against most protesters arrested at Columbia University, but that prosecutors were moving forward against a handful of protesters who claimed to have attacked police.
The allegations against 31 people had dropped, although they were still subject to discipline by Colombian University.
The protest movement associated with the Israel-Hamas war began in April in Colombia and covered campus throughout the country.
Hundreds of protesters were arrested on campuses across the country while the camps were demolished and the events were canceled.
