President Volodymyr Zelenskiy says that Ukrainian intelligence has information on 155 Chinese citizens fighting for the Russian army against Ukraine.

The Ukrainian leader spoke with journalists on Wednesday after the capture of two Chinese citizens in eastern Ukraine, where Russian troops have been moving forward. He said he expected the United States to speak with Moscow about the deployment of the battlefield of Chinese citizens.

Zelenskiy said that Russia was recruiting Chinese citizens through social networks, that Chinese officials knew it and that the Ukraine security service had compiled name lists, birth dates and Russian military units where they were assigned.

Ukraine was trying to evaluate whether the recruits were receiving Beijing instructions, he said.

“The Chinese problem is serious,” said Zelenskiy.

“There are 155 people with names and passport details: 155 Chinese citizens fighting Ukrainians in the territory of Ukraine. We are collecting information and we believe there are more, many more.”

Zelenskiy said Ukraine was prepared to exchange Chinese citizens captured by the Ukrainian military now in detention.

Reuters could not independently verify the statements.

China, who has declared an association of “without limits” with Russia, has tried to position itself as an actor attempts to negotiate the end of the war. He has refrained from criticizing the large -scale invasion of Russia of Ukraine.

On Wednesday, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs ruled out Zelenskiy’s “unfounded” comments that more Chinese citizens were on the front line along with the Russians.

“Ukraine should correctly see China’s efforts and constructive role in the search for a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis,” said Ministry spokesman Lin Jian, to a regular press conference.

China was verifying the situation with Ukraine, he said, adding that his government had always required its citizens to avoid armed conflict areas and “especially to avoid participating in military operations anywhere.”

Zelenskiy denounced the deployment of Chinese nationals as the “second error” of Russia in the war, after what Ukraine and the Western countries have described as the office of more than 11,000 troops from North Korea to the Kursk region of Russia.

“The United States is clearly seeing today the actions carried out by Russia,” he said.

“I don’t understand why the United States is not reacting strongly towards Russia. There is nothing in terms of diplomacy or statements.”

Russia has not made public comments on Zelenskiy’s statements about Chinese fighters and has never explicitly confirmed North Korean troops in its Kursk region.

The head of the US forces in the Indo-Pacific, Admiral Samuel Paparo, confirmed at an audience of the Congress on Wednesday that Ukraine had captured two Chinese citizens and said that any Russianly successively offensively embarrassed in Europe would be emboldened to China in their own offensive ambitions.

In other comments, Zelenskiy said he believed that the president of the United States, Donald Trump, was irritated by the fact that the Kremlin did not meet the promises, referring to Russia’s rejection of a proposal from the United States last month to declare the full fire and the continuous causes on the Ukrainian objectives.

“I think Trump is upset that (Russian president Vladimir) Putin is not following what he promised,” Zelenskiy said. “We don’t know everything they talked, but we know a lot. And we really hope there is a reaction.”

Zelenskiy also said that a meeting scheduled for this week in the United States to discuss an agreement on the exploitation of minerals and rare earths would focus on technical aspects and foundations of a future agreement.

Zelenskiy said the agreement should be profitable for both parties and could be structured in a way that helps modernize Ukraine.
