Chapman wounded for losing the second Odi against Pakistan

Chapman suffered the injury while in the field during the first ODI in Napier and subsequent magnetic resonance imaging revealed a tear of degree one that will require a short rehab period.

Chapman, who marked the best 132 of his career in the opening game of the series in McLean Park, will return to Auckland for rehab, with the aim of being available for the third and last ODI at Baio Oval on Saturday.

Tim Seifert, Tim Seifert, will replace Chapman on the team in Hamilton.

Seifert joins the squad at the back of a memorable T20i series against Pakistan, where he led the 249 -racing scoring stops, an average of 62.

Coach Gary Stead said the injury was unfortunate for Chapman and the team.

“We are grateful for the tendon injury to be just smaller, so we hope Mark can complete his rehab and be available for the final summer match in the assembly.”

Although ODI’s squad selection preference has been given to players in full national and domestic contracts, Stead said that Seifert’s recent form justified his selection.

“With several new faces in this team, it’s great to be able to call a player of the TIM experience,” he said.

“It is in good shape after a great T20 series and offers another option of strong first order renovates, entering an important match.”

New Zealand led the ODI series of three matches 1-0 after winning the T20 4-1 series.
