The strong winds caused a major interruption at Queenstown airport on Monday, with more than a dozen canceled flights.
Air New Zealand said at least 10 flights inside and outside the fate of the southern island were canceled in the afternoon.
A -void door said that the affected customers were being rescheduled and the conditions are expected to improve on Monday night as planned.
Two jetstar flights inside and outside Queenstown, respectively, were also canceled.
The MethService website said the city’s strong southerners were decreasing at night and the rain was cleaning.
Meanwhile, the wild climate was on its way to parts of the country for school holidays, with Northland, Auckland and Coromandel that will probably be the first success.
The climate event would extend to Plenty and Gisborne Bay as the week was advancing.
