An engine fire on a passenger bus closed the State Highway 1, near Pigeon Flat RD, north of Dunedin.
A police door said the emergency services were called around 5:50 pm.
A reporter at the scene said the two lanes of the highway were closed, but police would open a track under traffic management soon.

All passengers were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported, said the door.
New Zealand’s fire and emergence were also at the scene.
