British rider Evie Richards became the most decorated female short-run rider in history over the weekend with a win in Araxa.
The ruling world champion made the victory in Brazil in Brazil after holding the opening round of the UCI Crossalry Short Track (XCC) world championship last weekend and securing the double Friday.
It was her seventh victory in the short-lived discipline and saw her French big and Olympic champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot in the Elite women’s rankings.
“I think if you’re world champion and leading the series, there’s a lot of pressure, so I’ve been very nervous before,” she said.
“We had a bit of a rough plan, but nothing changed too much. You just have to do [think] On your feet and depending on how the race runs, you can’t really have a plan. ‘
The 28-year-old man had an easier time in the first round, a race she did not especially target to win, which marked her competitors’ movements and launched a decisive attack on the last steep climb of the race to overcome solo in front of the Samara Maxwell in New Zealand.
