High levels of carbon monoxide were found in the hotel room of 14-year-old Miller Gardner, Costa Rica police have revealed more than a week after New York’s son’s son Yankees Bretner Gardner has died on a family vacation.
Carbon monoxide was discovered while testing last week in Miller Gardner’s room at the Arenas del Mar exclusive resort in Manuel Antonio, police in Costa Rica said on Monday.
But a spokesman for the resort told ABC News on Tuesday that “high levels of carbon monoxide are in a mechanical room that guests do not occupy.”
“The levels of the hotel room do not exist and non-death,” the hotel spokesman said.
Miller Gardner’s cause of death is unknown and investigators are still waiting for final results of toxicology.

“We trust that the forensic process will objectively, clearly and categorically clarify the causes of this unfortunate incident,” the hotel statement said on Monday. “Out of respect for the continuing trial and the confidentiality of the family, we will refrain from commenting on any unconfirmed hypotheses or possible causes.”
Miller Gardner died in his sleep in the morning on March 21, according to the family.

Last night, the gardens went out for dinner at a restaurant near the resort and felt sick when they returned to the hotel, according to a source of Costa Rica, near the investigation.
A hotel spokesman said the staff “sends a medical team immediately, including a licensed doctor who arrived to deal with the emergency situation.”
“Miller was a beloved son and brother, and we still can’t understand our life without his contagious smile,” Garders said. “We are so grateful to everyone who has contacted us to offer support and encouragement at this difficult time and we are sure that our faith, family and friends will help us to navigate this unthinkable loss.”
