Boys risp off expo building

Mr. Jr Bartholomew SM had brought before him on the court of Minors on Saturday morning, two boys, aged 15-16, on charges of rising on the roof of the exhibition buildings on a Sunday afternoon and cutting a bit of a malty. The boys admitted to cut the malty, but denied having broken several windows kicking toothpicks for them. Hanlon, who appeared in the name of the boys, said that, as others had done, they had climbed on the roof of the building to get a view and, while up there, the rain had arrived, and they made a malty tent. They also touched the roof things, but they didn’t hear any glass break, nor did they know that no damage had been caused. They were caught on the roof and deeply handcuffed. Lock (Juvenile Conditional Officer) said the oldest boy was undoubtedly the leader. He was facing the court at a previous occasion on charges of theft and mischief. The second boy had a good character. The magistrate said the oldest boy was obviously not normal. The previous case, where the serious damage was caused in a boat shed, pointed to it. There was not enough evidence of breaking the glass, and this accusation would be dismissed. Under the remaining accusation, the older boy, who was already under the supervision of the Juvenile Conditional Freedom Officer, would be placed on parole for an additional 12 months. The other boy would receive a chance and would be warned and dismissed. Their parents would have to pay 7s 6d each to fund the cost of damage.

Gravel on rails

The trip on the Rattray Street cable car is never comfortable, but lately it has become more unpleasant than ever. From Maclaggan Street to Arthur Street Loose Metal was placed on the road.
