Said Hillman’s father Sam Samuelu, said 1News Hone asked to make a garage sale to raise the money for weeks.
The family expects to travel from their home in Auckland to Christchruch to see the rest of the family.
“It has been difficult for me to seek help,” he said 1News.
Six months ago, Samuelu said he found that Hone’s liver was expanded.
He said 1News The doctors made some deeper excavations and found that he had a brain tumor that was increasing the liver.
Hone was then diagnosed with a rare cellular disorder.
Samuelu told 1News He is now receiving chemotherapy and cannot go to school.
“It’s hard for him because he really loves school,” said Samuelu 1News.
But on Saturday dozens of Aucklanders donated drinks, clothes and a lot of Koha. In mid -mid, Hone received hundreds of donations.
“I heard that he is a fan of league and working with the Cook Islands Rugby League. I am (one) physiotherapists there, so I thought of bringing some of the things I had and one of the test shirts the boys gave me,” a man said 1News.
Another said, “I lost my wife this year and I only wish you all the best.”
The family said Air New Zealand contacted them to offer them a free trip to Anywhere Hone wants to go.
