Booker, who said he would hold the Senate floor open over the duration of his remarks, said at the top of his speech that he “rises[s] With the intention of violating the normal business “of the Chamber, because he thinks the country is in a” crisis “due to the actions of the White House since Trump began his second term.
“I rise tonight because I sincerely believe that our country is in a crisis. I believe that it is not in guerrilla sense, because so many people who have reached my cabinet of pain, of fear, as they have raised their lives – so many of them identify themselves as Republicans,” Bouker said.
“In just 71 days, the President of the United States has caused such a great deal of damage to the safety of Americans, the financial stability, the main foundations of our democracy, and even our aspirations as a nation of our tallest services, a sense of common.
While Booker holds the floor, the Senate will not be able to do another business unless temporarily let it not give.
