The Red Putter curled up by Min Woo Lee has pushed four shots through the open field of Houston while Australian eyes a title of PGA tour of the eve of the teachers.
Lee (17 below) cooked a third round, seven under 63 on Sunday morning (AEDT) to explode for the number one of the world Scottie Scheffler (12 below), and all others, in what had been a classification table in Memorial Park.
He almost accumulated hole 9 of pair 3 and had only 10 putts in a 10 holes, before closing the round with four consecutive peers while looking at an advance of the PGA Tour won just one fortnight of the mastres in Augusta.
“They told me that I had (eight single putts) in a row or something and 10 putts in 10 holes,” Lee said.
“I guess it was a small automatic pilot from the beginning, a very solid day again.”
Some golfers, including Lee, had to complete the second round on Saturday morning after the thunderstorms delayed the event.
“The last days were really good. Today was a very long day, I need to go back to bed,” Lee said.
“You may have to do two warm -up, two physiobato sessions and maybe you can shoot at seven under all the time.
“It was very fun and very good in general.”
As bright as Lee was in the Greens, he was also very satisfied with his iron game that he said he has clicks from the players this month, when he shared the advantage of 36 holes.
“It’s such a good trend,” he said.
Charging…
“My coach (Ritchie Smith) and I have done a very good job and is starting to show.
“It’s just a lot of confidence.
“We have been working on this during the last two, three years, but only in the last two weeks since the players have click.
“Obviously you have to hit him closely, and Holing putts help.
“Hopefully tomorrow I can hit him a little better from the tee and start it.”
Scheffler number one in the world, playing in what is essentially your event at home, directed by a shot after matching your course record with 62 on Friday.
“I’m just going out and try to have a good round tomorrow,” said Scheffler, the champion of the defenders.
“Don’t think about things too much, try to start well.”
Rory Mcilroy made a late eagle for a 66 and was eight shots behind,
Jason Day published a less than 69 to move to Five-Indander and in a draw by 41st position, while the Australian pair Karl Vilips and Aaron Baddeley lost the cut.
