Cricket Australia (CA) has respected the former test player Bob Cowper, who died at age 84.
Cowper, a left -handed hitter, played 27 tests for Australia between 1964 and 1968.
The highlight of his test career was an impressive entry of 307 against England in the MCG during the 1965/66 ash series.
It was the first triple century scored in Australia.
Only seven Australians have scored a triple century in a man’s test.
Cowper compiled 2,061 races at an average of 46.84 during his test career, with five centuries in his name.
He withdrew from the trial cricket at the age of 28 to pursue his commercial interests and then served as an international arbitrator of the Cricket Council.

“Bob was a wonderful batter who will always be remembered for his famous triple century in the MCG, as well as his strong influence on the Australian and Victorian teams of the 1960s,” said CA president Mike Baird, in a statement.
“He was also a significant taxsence to Crick in other roles, even as a referee of the CPI coincidence and his wisdom was always sought.
“On behalf of Cricket Australia, our deepest condolences to Bob’s family, friends and former teammates at this sad moment.”
Cowper received a medal from the Australian order in 2023.
His wife and two daughters survive him.
