The Australian basketball player Georgia Amore has been selected as the sixth selection of the Draft The Washington Mystics in the WNBA.
The 24 -year -old from Ballarat plays the University for the Kentucky Wildcats, but played at the NBL1 for Ballarat Rush in 2019.
He played four years with Virginia Tech before making the change to Kentucky for his last year, after chief coach Kenny Brooks.
He averaged 19.6 points per game for Kentucky, starting 31 games in the NCAA season.
Amore, a guard, has represented Australia at the youth level both in basketball and 3×3, winning minor gold medals at Asia level.
On the orange carpet of the WNBA, Amore wore clothes designed by the NBA star Russell Westbrook, who has a clothing brand called Honor The Gift.
Amore said that Westbrook designed his outfit and it was incredible to work with which they met for the first time in a zoom session last November.

They selected Sonia Citron from Notre Dame with the third selection, and Kiki Iriafen from Southern Cal with number four before Amoore was recruited.
The UConn star guard, Paige Bueckers, was the general number one selection for the Dallas Wings.
Bueckers had made comparisons with the legend withdrawal from the WNBA, Diana Tauurasi, long before high school and her ascent to the first selection in the Draft was almost an inevitable conclusion after she went to the championship with her huskies earlier this month.
“You never want to assume anything in life,” Bueckers told journalists after she lifted Wings shirt on stage in front of Manhattan’s ceremony fans.
“It is a new beginning and we are all ready to do something special.”
Bueckers and his Uconn Huskies dismantled South Carolina 82-59 in the championship earlier this month, giving him the farewell of fairy tale that he longed for after overcoming multiple injuries in his university career.
He obtained the Naismith trophy in his first year, but his university career almost derailed, since he lost 19 games during his second year due to a knee injury and stayed out the entire 2022-23 season after tearing his anterior cross ligament.
Dallas fans expect Bueckers, a famous scorer with an excellent defensive intuition, give an elevator to the wings while looking to recover from a sad 9-31 season.
The imposing Dominique Malonga Center, which was part of the French Olympic Basketball team winner of the silver medal, was the second in general in Seattle.
