Crystal Palace was pulled in the FA Cup semi-finals against Aston Villa, while Nottingham Forest faces the winner of Bournemouth of Manchester City.
The semi -finals will be held in Wembley on Saturday 26 and Sunday, April 27, with the history on the line, as Forest, Villa and Crystal Palace should only become the fourth team for the past 30 years to disrupt the dominance of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United in this competition.
For Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, the win at Wembley would secure their first major trophy, while Forest last won the FA Cup in 1959 and Villa even further back, in 1957.
In a derby in London, Crystal Palace Fulham set aside to become the first team to advance until the last four, while Nottingham Forest needs fines to take Brighton out later.
Earlier Sunday, Aston Villa drove past Preston North End – the only championship team left in the draw – with Deepdale, with Marcus Rashford’s Renaissance under Unai Emery that ran into two goals in the second half when they won 3-0.
Bournemouth of Manchester City will complete the set of semi-finalists, with their match after the draw, starting at 4:30 pm at the Vitality stage on Sunday.
Andoni Iraola’s side goes to the meeting as underdogs despite their brilliant season, but will be aware that they have what is needed to disrupt the series winners from Pep Guardiola. The Cherries won 2-1 in the league in November, which ended the city’s unbeaten 32-match run in the top flight and caused their amazing decline this season, with the FA Cup Sunday’s last chance at silverware.
But despite their misery this season, the seven times Champions City has the most recent pedigree in the competition after winning their last seven FA Cup quarterfinals. They were last conquered in 2023 and beat the opponents Manchester United 2-1 and then lost to the same opposition the following year with the same standings.
Palace made the final twice and lost in 1990 and 2016, and for the two -time winners Nottingham Forest, it is their first last four appearance – and would be their first final – since 1991, when they were defeated by Tottenham Hotspur.
Villa has had the most success of the confirmed semi-finalists so far, after winning the tournament seven times, but will have painful memories of their last appearance on Wembley, when they lost 4-0 to Arsenal in 2015.
