Anthony Albanese pushes ahead of Peter Dutton as preferred PM in first poll since Federal Budget

Voters have focused on Labor Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on opposition leader Peter Dutton as the country’s favorite leader, according to the latest surveys.

Before May 3 Federal ChoiceAlbanese took an advantage of 42 to 33 percent over Dutton as a preferred prime minister in the results published tonight.

It is a dramatic change since last month, when 35 percent of voters chose the prime minister to continue leading the nation and 39 percent preferred the opposition leader.

When asked why they would use their first preference, 37 percent responded liberals, 2 low percentage points and 29 percent responded to labor, an increase of 4 percentage points.

There were also positive results for Albanese when voters were asked that they would qualify their performance as a prime minister in recent weeks.

Of the 3237 eligible voters surveyed from Wednesday to Saturday, 38 percent said that the performance of the prime minister was good and that 49 percent said he was poor, which gave him a great boost in the net yield of less 22 points to less 11 points.
