Amazon joins bidding war for TikTok as deadline for sale approaches: Sources

With the clock that runs on the Tiktok deadline to sell or ban the US, the battle to buy the app is intensified.

Amazon now sent a letter to the Trump administration to join the war for Tiktok war, sources told ABC News.

President Donald Trump said over the weekend that he had many potential buyers and said he would like to maintain the app alive. The administration has set the deadline on April 5 to ban the application if it is not sold by its Chinese company, Bytedance.

On Wednesday, Trump and senior administration officials examined numerous proposals. It is unclear whether a decision has been made on how to move forward.

The Applovin and Group Mobile Technology Company, including technology giant Oracle, also made offers to buy the app. Even if Trump approves a deal, China will still have to give it up.

Trump said publicly that if an agreement is not reached until the deadline, he would simply extend it.
