Police have issued a reward of £ 10,000 for information about a teenager who disappeared from his home almost 17 years ago.
Alexander Sloley, a 16-year-old accounting student, had little money, no wallet and no passport when he disappeared two days before his birthday in August 2008 in Islington, North London.
He visited a friend’s home in Edmonton, but left home around the afternoon.
His family and friends have not heard of him ever since, and despite repeated appeals and inquiries, the police have never been able to find him.
Mr. Sloley had no possessions or savings clothing that would indicate that he plans to run away, and his phone, bank account and national insurance number have not been used since he disappeared.
He has also never been seen on CCTV. In 2009, his case was one of the first to be announced at nearly 13.5 million milk cartons in the supermarket chain of Iceland.
When he disappeared, Mr. Sloley described as a black man with light skin, 5ft 5in long and of medium built, with striking blue eyes.
According to the Camden New Journal, a police officer said in 2012 about the disappearance of Mr. Sloley: “It’s as if he’s disappeared from the planet’s face.”
In 2017, Mick Neville, a retired chief of the Metropolitan Police Central Images unit, said he believed there was a possible link between Alex and missing 14-year-old Andrew Gosden.

Mr. Gosden was last seen in King’s Cross Station in London after taking a train from Doncaster, where he lived with his parents and sister.
There has been no trace of him ever since.
In 2019, however, detectives said there is no evidence that Mr. Sloley did harm and there was no evidence that it was linked to any other cases.
Detective Chief Inspector SARB Kaur, who leads the investigation into his disappearance, said about the £ 10,000 reward of Metropolitan Police: ‘Alex was reported to police on August 8, 2008.
‘Since then, extensive inquiries have been made by the police, but unfortunately Alex has not been found yet.
‘We now offer a reward of up to £ 10,000 for anyone who has information about Alex’s whereabouts.
“It remains an active investigation into missing person, subject to regular review by senior officers, with the aim of detecting Alex and bringing some comfort into his family. We recently met with Alex’s mother to explain how we intend to promote our investigation to find him.
“I would ask someone with information who could help get in touch immediately, no matter how insignificant you think it could be.”
