Alberta to allow addicts to be committed to secure facilities

So far, no facilities for addicts working to secure facilities are yet to be built. In the 2025 budget, the United Conservative government set aside $180 million in three years to build two 150-bed treatment facilities, one in Calgary and the other in Edmonton, for those forced to receive treatment. Additionally, treatment will be received at the Northern Alberta Youth Recovery Center, a separate facility at the Edmonton Youth Criminal Center and in an already established, repurposed, secure home that has been established under the existing child drug abuse program.
