A man in Smoky Lake County faced multiple charges last week, catching several stolen property last week.
On March 19, the RCMP said officials conducted a stolen property investigation at a farm property at 12573 Township Road, 594 Smoky Lake County.
A search warrant was issued, and police caught a stolen 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck, 2013 snowmobile, trailer, about 35 shots.

“Members of the RCMP detachment are able to deploy a variety of technologies, including the use of bait traps, which involve leaving traceable items in areas where the goods are usually stolen to trace back to the goods that have been stolen,” Smoky Lake lake RCMP Sgmp sgmp. ” Anita Doktor told reporters at a press conference Tuesday morning.
Doktor said the area has been facing a surge in property-related crimes, such as the breakers, and has had a significant impact on the community as a whole, but Doktor believes they have made progress in the number of stolen property investigations.
“We take each document as a special investigation and work to mitigate property crimes at one time. We do projects every day on the road and we continue to work hard,” Doktor said.
Doktor said their detachment in Smoky Lake works with Alberta’s Crime Reduction Unit and surrounding detachments in St. Paul, Lac La Biche, Redwater and Two Hills and collaborates when information is received.
The RCMP also confirmed that the stolen trucks in the investigation were stolen from the Fort Saskatchewan area, and that most of the properties targeted were seasonal.

Doktor said property owners should make sure they have security cameras on their property to try to record any possible breakage.
“This may not stop them, but it will provide us with a starting point for investigation points, whether it is determining the vehicle or the suspect’s face. Any little information is important,” Doktor said.
Gregory Huk, 25, of Smoky Lake County, was charged with possession of stolen property, careless storage of firearms, prohibited weapons/equipment, and unauthorized firearms.
The RCMP said Heck had no history of crimes of stolen property.
Huk was remanded and was scheduled to appear in court at Boyle on Wednesday.
