A man from Alberta faces second-degree murder in a shooting murder case involving two fathers in Waterdown earlier this month.
Hamilton police shared details of the investigation Friday, noting that authorities received a call from the victim’s friend on March 6 to provide health checks on homes in the eastern Dundas Street and Spring Creek Avenue area.
Police said the male victim was found shot dead in the residence and authorities noted he was killed before March 3. Later, the man was identified as 55-year-old Dirk Nyhuis, who was often taken by Jeff.
Homicide detectives say Cory Mahoney, 40, of Alberta, was linked to a water shooting. Police say Mahoney faces second-degree murder charges for New Yorker death.
Authorities claimed that the victim and the defendant had mutual friends, knew each other, and were invited to home on March 3.
The motive is unknown, but investigators said the defendants lasted several days in Ontario when the fatal shooting occurred.
The investigation is underway and anyone with information is asked to stand up.
