Actor Val Kilmer, star of ‘Batman Forever’ and ‘The Doors,’ dies at 65

Val Kilmer, the star of the blockbusters of the 1980s and 90s, including “Top Gun”, “Batman Forever” and “Tombstone”, has died, according to the Associated Press. He was 65.

The daughter of the actor, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed the death, saying he had died on Tuesday in Los Angeles, the AP reported.

Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2015 and suffered a tracheotomy, which made it difficult to speak the actor.

“It’s just like any other language or dialect,” Kilmer told Good Morning America in August 2020 about his difficulties, communicating after his tracheotomy. “You have to come up with a way to communicate, which is no different than any other acting challenge, but it’s just a very unique set of circumstances.”

Kilmer, a graduate of the Drama Department of the Juliard School, began his career as a theater actor in plays outside Broadway before finding Hollywood fame in the early 1980s with roles in the Sport Secret spy pad! And the teen comedy “True Genius”.
