One person died in a two -vehicle accident in Whakatane today.
Police said they were called around 4:55 pm for an accident at Ohope Road in Maraetotara.
Hao Hone St John said someone else was taken to Whakatane Hospital in a serious condition.
The severe collision unit is examining the scene and traffic management remains in force.
