“Splash! A century of swimming and style” has more than 200 items that look at our love for water since the 1920s, either in the read, in the pool or in the wild.
“The program explores the last century of swimming through design lenses,” Amber Butchart, the exhibition’s invited curator to Reuters.
“We started in the pool, we moved to the read and end in nature and each of these sections allows us to explore different themes, whether material and manufacture, be the … Evolution of bath clothing as a fashion object or if swimming in outdoor spaces and architecture that allows access to it.”
A variety of colorful swimwear of several decades takes in the center of the stage, including a 1950s bikini and a selection of 80s Speedo summaries alongside an edition of the famous Red Costume Anderson used to play rescue -CJ Parker on Baywatch In the 1990s.
The items date from an example of the 20th of the bathroom clothes for more contemporary and adaptive designs.
There are also several Olympic items – including the first golden swimming gold medal of swimming, won by a British woman, as well as the dive Daley team’s trunks.
• “Splash! A century of swimming and style” happens from March 28 to August 17.
