US Vice President JD Vance will fly to Greenland this week after accusing US and Danish leaders of ignoring the island “for far too long”.
He will join Second Lady Ushha Vance and energy secretary Chris Wright as part of a delegation around the Pituffik spatial base, the US military base in Greenland.
Originally, Ms Vance planned to attend a popular dog plate race in Greenland-a move Denmark’s premier with Frederiksen has criticized for putting “unacceptable pressure” on the semi-autonomous Danish area.
With the announcement of the change in the destination to the US base, Mr. Vance said he didn’t want his wife to ‘have all the fun alone’, before adding that ‘many countries have threatened the largest island in the world’.
Mr Vance then said: ‘We’re going to see how things are going.
‘Talk for President TrumpWe want to strengthen the safety of the people of Greenland, because we think it is important to protect the safety of the whole world. ‘
The Vice President also claimed that we and Danish leaders have ignored Groenland ‘too long’ and that ‘we think we can take things in a different direction’.
Since US President Donald Trump held office, he has driven the idea of Greenland regularly become part of the United States.
Greenland’s strategic location, at the northeastern point of the North American continent and as the gate to the Arctic Ocean. As well as the rich mineral resources, the US will benefit.
It also lies along the shortest route from Europe to North America, and is essential for the American ballistic rocket warning system.

The governments of both Greenland and Denmark expressed opposition to such a step.
The Prime Minister of Greenland, Mute one, told the Sancitsiaq newspaper that his country had tried ‘all diplomatic and democratic options’, but the mission of Mr. Trump is ‘to own and control Greenland’.
And on Tuesday, Danish Prime Minister with Frederiksen accused the US of putting “unacceptable pressure” on Greenland.
Waltz omitted from the announcement
Mike Waltz, National Security Advisor of the White House, originally intended to participate in the Greenland visit.
However, according to the Associated Press (AP), its name was omitted from the latest announcement.
It comes to a US Journalist has been added to a signal group chat where US officials discussed air strikes on Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi’s.
It is unclear whether he is still going, whether his travel plans have been changed to the leak.

It is unclear why the officials chose to chat via signal instead of safe government channels that are usually used for sensitive discussions.
On Tuesday, Mr. Trump told Sky News US partner NBC News that the decline was “not a serious one” and expressed his continued support for Mr Waltz.
