From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, the Independent is on the ground when the story develops. Whether it is investigating the finances of Elon Musk’s pro-Trump PAC or our latest documentary ‘The A Word’, which shines a light on American women who fight for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to analyze the facts from the messages.
At such a critical moment in American history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to send to journalists to speak on both sides of the story.

There is “no military solution” for the war in Ukraine, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said before the high level of peace talks in Saudi Arabia.
A Ukrainian delegation, led by President Volodymyr Zelensky, will be with Mr. Rubio and other senior White House figures in Jeddah meet to discuss an end to the three -year war with Russia.
On the plane ride there Mr. Rubio told reporters that he would question Ukrainians about their willingness to make concessions to stop the battles, the Guardian reported.
“The most important thing we have to leave here is a strong feeling that Ukraine is willing to do difficult things, as Russians will have to do difficult things, end this conflict or at least interrupt it in some way, form or form,” he said.
“I think both sides should understand that there is no military solution to this situation.”
The Russian army cannot conquer the entire Ukraine, Rubio said.
“It is clear that it will be very difficult for Ukraine in any reasonable period to force the Russians to where they were in 2014.”

Kyiv will suggest a ceasefire of the Black Sea, a stop for long-distance rack attacks and a prisoner exchange at the talks, according to two senior Ukrainian officials.
The officials spoke anonymously for a lack of authorization to discuss the Tuesday meeting in public, and also revealed the readiness of Ukraine to sign an agreement with the US that gives access to his rare earthminerals, a major priority for President Donald Trump.
This meeting is crucial to Kyiv, who works to restore relations after the visit of Mr. Zelensky on February 28 Washington visits led to a heated Oval Office exchange with Mr. Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
The outage of Theincident led to a break in important US military aid and intelligence division, which previously played an important role in supporting the Ukraine’s war effort, as Washington now prioritizes a peace agreement.
Both Mr. Rubio and Mr. Zelensky arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday, but did not meet.
Mr. Zelensky met with the Kingdom’s mighty crown prince on Monday night, while the president said they had “a detailed discussion on the steps and conditions needed to end the war and ensure a reliable and lasting peace”.
“Saudi Arabia provides an important platform for diplomacy, and we appreciate it,” Mr Zelensky said online.

Mr. Rubio also met Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, thanking him for presenting the talks and also discussing the Houthi rebels of Yemen, who threatens to start their attacks in the Red Sea.
With reporters, Mr. Rubio admits that it would be difficult for the Ukrainians to discuss concessions, taking into account their situation.
“It was an expensive and bloody war for the Ukrainians. They suffered a lot and their people suffered a lot.
“It’s hard in the wake of something like that to talk even about concessions, but it’s the only way it’s going to end and more suffering.”
The rest of Europe remains skeptical of the talks as it was posted by Washington.
The European Union agreed last week to increase the defense of the continent and to free hundreds of billions of euros for security in response to the Trump administration’s attitude to Ukraine.
