Scottie Scheffler equated the lowest 72-hole total of the PGA tour as he facilitated an eight-stroke victory during the CJ Cup Byron Nelson tournament.
The world no. 1, which went through the pace after an opening 61, closed with a 63 to finish at 31-under-Par 253-matched the record held by Justin Thomas and Ludvig Aberg.
He was on track to defeat the record, but pitched the 17th hole after a poor slide and missed an eight-foot bird-putt lately.
Scheffler had five birds and an eagle on his top nine, because his lead never had under six shots during the finals.
The pillow ended as it started at eight, while Erik van Rooyen in South Africa was also the only player within ten shots.
Co -American Sam Stevens was three strokes in third place, with Jordan Spieth jumping to fourth place through the field as he fired nine birds in a closing 62.
Scheffler won nine times last season, but he should have contributed to this in 2025 after missing the start of the season due to surgery on a hand injury while preparing Christmas dinner.
But after a second place in the Houston Open, followed by fourth place on Augusta National in defense of his Masters title, he ends that run at the event where he made his PGA tour as a 17-year-old amateur in 2014.
“This tournament means a lot to me,” Scheffler, who comes from nearby Dallas, told CBS. “That was my first tournament 11 years ago, I made my sister visit me.
“It feels like a lifetime of hard work and sacrifice for small moments like this, and they are very special.”
