According to metropolitan police, five men were arrested on the presumption of the preparation of a terrorist law.
Counter-terror officials have the men, four of whom Iranian citizens were arrested on Saturday, with everyone currently in custody.
The Met said the arrests associated with a “suspected plot to target a specific premises”.
In an update shortly after midnight, power said: “Officers made contact with the website concerned to make them aware and provide relevant advice and support, but for operational reasons we cannot provide further information at the moment.”
It added that officers performed searches at a number of addresses in the Greater Manchester, London and Swindon areas in connection with the investigation.
It is said that those detained ::
• A 29-year-old man arrested in the Swindon area
• A 46-year-old man arrested in West London
• A 29-year-old man arrested in the Stockport area
• A 40-year-old man arrested in the Rochdale area
• A man whose age has not been confirmed in the Manchester area.
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, said: “It is a fast moving investigation and we are working closely with those on the website in question to keep them informed.
“The investigation is still in the early stages and we are investigating different investigations to determine any possible motivation, as well as identifying if there may be a further risk to the public linked to this matter.
‘We understand that the public is concerned, and as always, I would ask them to stay alert and if they see or hear something they are going on, then to contact us.
“We are working closely with local officers in the areas where we arrested today, and I would like to thank the police colleagues across the country for their constant support.”
Terror arrests in separate investigation
Police also arrested three further Iranian citizens in London on Saturday as part of an unrelated against terror investigation.
The suspects were detained in terms of section 27 of the National Security Act Act 2023, enabling the police to arrest those who were presumably involved in foreign power threat.
