Toronto’s largest park says its famous cherry blossom trees showcase the first sign of the coming Bloom.
Every year, during the peak cherry blossom season, thousands of locals and tourists descend to the High Park, and the park’s Nature Center says it’s almost time to make another pilgrimage.
The center said the cherry trees in the park were in the first phase of the Bloom development process, which meant the buds looked “fat, round, healthy and green”.
It said it was the first sign they were about to arrive, but it was too early to make clear predictions about when peak blooms occurred.
However, cherry blossoms in High Park usually peak between late April and early May.
High Park Nature Center says peak Bloom is weather-dependent and can only last for one week, so it encourages visitors to continue checking its website for the latest updates.
Cherry trees can also be found in other parks in Toronto, and the city’s website maps its location to the location.
The city said some of the first cherry blossoms or cherry blossoms were planted in Toronto in 1959, and the then Japanese ambassador showed Toronto residents 2,000 trees on behalf of Tokyo.
It said on its website: “After World War II, Toronto was accepted by relocated Japanese Canadians, the trees were for appreciation.”
