Nearly 60 pieces of evidence entered at trial of B.C. lawyer accused of murdering his client

A knife, 12-inch blade and a shovel were one of nearly 60 pieces of evidence filed in Kamloops, British Columbia during a trial of an attorney accused of killing his client.

Rogelio Bagabuyo was charged with first-degree murder in the March 2022 death of Mohd Abdullah, a science professor at Thompson River University.

Bagabuyo, 57, was wearing glasses and wearing glasses in British Columbia’s Supreme Court court and sat behind a lawyer. Justice Kathleen Ker took notes when he recorded dozens of exhibitions as evidence.

The first exhibition entered was the rental documents for the budget van, in which the victim’s remains were found. The van was left in the Duffelin area of ​​Kamloops.

Other evidence items include a large black storage tote bag, rope, disposable lighter, cable and black garbage bag with holes cut in tops.

An index card with handwritten notes was also submitted as a collection of information on flights from Vancouver to New York City, along with “everything that follows”, “Don’t bring phones and electronic observations”, “Close phones”, “Close apps” and “turn position services”.

A bunch of documents were also submitted, including 28 pages of email exchange between the victim and the defendant, as well as the victim’s wishes and authorization documents, signed by Abdullah and his then-be attorney Bagabuyo.

At one point, the court had to take a break to find more clear bags to curb the evidence.

Abdullah is reportedly a 60-year-old computer science professor who disappeared while not working at TRU on March 14, 2022.

Three days later, his body was found, and Babuyo was charged with disturbing the human remains.

Shortly after Abdullah’s death, Abdullah’s son-in-law told CBC News that Bagabuyo was Abdullah’s “trusted friend”. Sarah Jeet Lalata-Buco, daughter of Abdullah, said her father was a quiet and kind person.

More than a year later, in May 2023, Babuyo was charged with murder. He has been free on bail since July 2023.

According to a 2022 university statement, Abdullah has worked at the university for 21 years and has played an important role in the college of science and open learning.

The royal family is scheduled to present an opening debate on Tuesday.
