The Australian Guard Georgia Amore has been selected by Washington Mystic with Pick Six in the WNBA draft.
The Mystics, with a new coach and general manager, had three of the first six selections on Monday (AEST on Tuesday).
They chose Sonia Citron at number 3, Kiki Iriafen at number 4 and the Guard of Kentucky Amoore with the sixth selection.
Amoore was dressed in the orange carpet of the WNBA by the NBA star Russell Westbrook, who has a clothing brand called Honor The Gift.
Amore said that Westbrook designed his outfit and it was incredible to work with which they met for the first time in a zoom session last November.
Amoore comes from Ballarat and grew up practicing several sports, including Australian rules football before changing their approach only to basketball at the age of 17.
The 24 -year -old began 155 of 157 games in five university seasons in the United States, averaging 19.6 points and 6.9 assists for Kentucky this season after transferring Virginia Tech.
As expected, the very publicized Paige Bueckers went to the Dallas Wings as the best choice.
The versatile star of Uconn is the last prominent of the huskies in Go No.1, joining former Greats Sue Bird, Diana Tauurasi, Maya Moore and Breanna Stewart.
“Dallas, I’m so excited, a new city, a new beginning,” said Bueckers. “A new beginning, so let’s get it.”
Bueckers has had a Torbellino week since it helped Uconn win a 12th national championship on April 6. He has divided his time between New York and Connecticut doing interview programs in the morning and nocturnal. On Sunday, he participated in the parade of the Huskies championship.
Seattle quickly followed the selection of Dallas when taking the 19 -year -old French center Dominique Malonga with the selection No.2.
Malonga was part of the French Olympic basketball team winner of the silver medal. She is the first French player to be recruited so high since 1997, when Isabelle Fijalkowski was second.
“I was very proud to achieve that goal,” Malonga said.
