Jadon Sancho spares Chelsea blushes with equaliser against Ipswich

Jadon Sancho’s incredible late goal closed a second half when Chelsea recovered from two goals to draw 2-2 with Ipswich on Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Maresca certainly faced the worst defeat of his tenure when Julio’s Tap-in and Ben Johnson’s head struggled to see Ipswich in the face of a famous victory that would make their dull hope alive to avoid the relegation from the Premier League.

Chelsea hit back and reduced the overdue amounts in the first minute after halftime, and Marc Cucurella’s presence at the nearby post forced its own goal of Axel Tuanzebe before Sancho relieved the ground by curling in its first goal since December.

The Blues will still see the result, as two points have fallen in the race for the Champions League qualification.

Nicolas Jackson hit a post in the eighth minute after being rescued by Enzo Fernandez’s cut off, and Noni Madueke brought an almost-post rescue from Alex Palmer to the neat, deep cross of Pedro Neto.

Ipswich’s goalkeeper was vigilant to throw himself and get two hands on Levi Colwill’s close head kick when Chelsea piled up on great early pressure and the visitors struggled to breathe.

And so it was nowhere that Ipswich went ahead.

In April 2023, Enciso achieved a beautiful effort of 30 meters on this ground for Brighton, and although it was a less spectacular finish, it did not have the impact.

George Hirst carried the ball forward and moved it wide for Johnson, whose low cross from the right was very inviting, and Enciso simply left to set a foot and lead Robert Sanchez.

At the time, there was the extremely unusual sight that Sanchez shook his defenders on a goal, bypassing Maresca’s preferred build-up game.

Sanchez hit it for a long time and the ball came back straight to Chelsea, Jack Clarke drives on and finds enciso, who crossed the farthest post where Johnson waited to nod home.

The flag immediately came up against eNciso, but the new semi-automatic offside system intervened and Ipswich was two up.

The evil that Chelsea greeted as they left the field half time was the biggest noise the home fans set up up to that point, but it was 18 seconds in the second half, when their team started fighting back.

Straight from the kick -off, Fernandez slides the ball wide on the right to Madueke, who ran it to the Bylline and withdrew for Cucurella arriving at the nearby post to kick it against Tuanzebe and in.

Hirst then came inside the mustache of the recovery of the two goals with a brilliant, swinging ride that flashed an inch wide before a moment later made contact with a head when he was marked six meters outside.

Sancho leveled 12 minutes from time to time to save Chelsea and his effort couldn’t have ended much more perfectly in the top corner.

Trevoh Chalobah should have won it with a late headball he drove off in the ground and over the bar.

Cole Palmer was then denied by a complete savings of his namesake in the Ipswich goal in the downtime.
