Lethbridge Trail Alliance kicks off first coulee trail maintenance day – Lethbridge

After establishing a partnership with the City of Lethbridge in December 2024, the Lethbridge Trail Alliance officially started work on the Coulee Trail system this weekend.

Volunteers gather tools and energy to clean, trim and restore one of the city’s oldest and most commonly used trails.

LTA President Ralph Arnold has been running in the Coulees for more than 30 years. He said it makes sense to see people gathered to take care of the community for decades.

“It’s great to see it fully utilized, people of all kinds are using it, and it’s great to see it get a little love and care,” Arnold said.

By planning more off-road workdays, LTA hopes their efforts will help reduce trail erosion and limit the creation of unofficial roads.

Volunteer Matthew Tata said he contributed to the effort.

“It’s really nothing,” he said. “It’s one of the outstanding things about Lethbridge.”
