Windsor Spitfires has been battling the injured bugs in the playoffs, but the club looked like some targeted hits in the second round of the playoffs against the Kitchener Rangers.

“Some of their guys aren’t really graceful, but you just keep playing,” Spitfires said over forward Ryan Abraham.

Spitfires beat Rangers 5-1 with two powerful goals before giving the Rangers a 5,699 crowd at the WFCU Center on Saturday.

“You have to stay on that line,” said Spitfes’ head coach Greg Walters. “I thought (Kichinner) had crossed. That was hockey, that was playoff hockey, those things happened.

“The referee takes care of it and our power plays out is resolved. The best way to limit our power plays out is to keep clicking.”

Windsor scored twice in Saturday’s Power Game, and now in the series, the man advantage is 12-win four points (33.3%) after killing all 22 power games in the first round against Flint.

“We are rolling right now,” said Spitfires defensive player Conor Walton. “It’s the momentum of the playoffs, we have the momentum now, and the 2-0 series has a good lead.”

Now, up 2-0 in the seven best Western Conference semi-final series, Game 3 is scheduled for Monday in Kitchener.

“A 2-0 lead is really what you want to get into the away game,” Abraham said. “When the dogs are around the corner, they are going to fight back, so we have to go there and be ready.”
