The girl’s relative warned emergency services around 8:30 p.m. Friday as the victim fell into a silo at the former Bergo factory, a paper mill that has been closed since 2008.
Sergeant Frederic Deshaies said two young men were walking on the factory site, climbing to the top of the silo and being trapped inside as the girl fell into the concrete and metal structure.
Local firefighters in Sevinegan, about 165 kilometers from Montreal, conducted a restricted space rescue operation by his peers near Trois-Rivieres.
The young victim was found and released at about 4:40 a.m. Saturday and taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The coroner will investigate her death.
