One person died after expelling the state road one and descended a margin north of Dunedin.
Emergency services were called to the north highway to southern Waitati right after 3:30 am on Saturday, where the only occupant of the car was found dead.
The road remained blocked with deviations in place while a scene exam continued, police said.
