The New Brunswick government said it plans to sell 11 Teslas it owns to deal with U.S. tariffs and the important role the automaker CEO plays in the Donald Trump administration.
Prime Minister Susan Holt told reporters last week that the government had begun to study the prices of vehicles that could be obtained, adding that Teslas were sitting in the parking lot but were not used.

A statement from the New Brunswick Department of Transportation said that the purchased vehicles were purchased for approximately $82,000 per person as part of the province’s climate change action plan.
It said the government’s Tesla sale will be completed by a public auction.
A report published in January showed that Tesla’s sales fell 1.1% last year, the first decline in more than a decade.
Werner Antweiler, associate professor at the University of British Columbia’s Soder School of Business, said the “Tesla halo effect” is decreasing as the company’s competition increases and CEO Elon Musk’s image has been damaged.
