The meteorological department predicted more rain out of season to the region.
The Meteorological Department of India (IMD) had increased on Wednesday a Multi-Maré warning to the country, with conditions of heat waves in the western parts and storms in the east and central region.
In the eastern state of Bihar, at least 64 people have died in rain-related incidents since Wednesday, a senior employee of the state disaster management department told Reuters.
The local media reported that more than 20 people died in the most populous state of Uttar Pradesh India.
Meanwhile, in neighboring Nepal, lightning and heavy rains killed at least eight people, officials from the National Disaster authority said.
The meteorological office of India expects heavy rains with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds over the center and east of India until Saturday.
The monsoon station usually begins in June in southern India, and the summer months in the recent past were marked by intense heat waves that killed several people.
State IMD said last week that India should try a much warmer April, with above normal temperatures in most of the country.
