The family of a mother stabbed to death when she attended Notting Hill Carnival with her three -year -old daughter said: “The feeling of loss is overwhelming, but also the feeling of anger”.
Cher Maximen, 32, was stabbed in the West London Carnival’s “Family Day” on August 25 last year.
Shakeil Thibou, 20, has now been convicted of her murder after a hearing in the Old Bailey.
“I lost my parents. I lost my brother. Nothing ever felt that way,” said Ms. Maximen’s cousin Lawrence Hoo told Sky News.
“It’s the smartest thing, it’s truly.”

Ms Maximen died in a carnival where she was so many times – she missed one barely one.
On the day, Ms Maximen and her three -year -old daughter arrived with a group of friends and their children at Europe’s biggest street party. They sat and talked when she was skipped by some men who started fighting.
News about her stitch came almost immediately. Mr Hoo remembers that he received the call. “When I first heard that she was stabbed to death, I knew it sounded stupid, but I thought Cher would be in order. Cher is strong, she will get through this. ‘
Ms Maximen was taken to the hospital and underwent a number of emergency procedures before being placed on life support.
Mr. Hoo went to London immediately to be with her bed.
“I can remember being in the hospital that he was sitting there with her, with other family members, and this is the last time I saw her. It still doesn’t really feel. There is still disbelief, ‘he said.
“This is the senseless act for someone who has had so much life and so much to give.”
Ms Maximen died of her injuries six days after the incident.
She was a lively young woman who grew up in Bristol and then London and found her feet with people in music and entertainment.
Ms Maximen was described as a ‘folk person’, which for Mr. Hoo in her “a bright light” was manifested in the lives of her loved ones.
He said: “It’s just this energy she had, she lit the room. If you walked into a space, you would know that Cher was there. Her energy would fill the room. She was a very bright light.”
Her life changed three years before her death when she became a mother in her late 20s.
Her daughter became her life work, she threw out her love and energy to create a person who describes her family as her mini-me, ‘she is Cher 2.0’. Hoo said.

Ms Maximen was stabbed only meters from her daughter that day.
Mr. Hoo said the idea of the toddler who sees how her mother on the ground is the sadness that the family feels with anger.
“The feeling of loss is overwhelming, but also the feeling of anger,” he said. ‘His [Ms Maximen’s daughter] is aware that something happened to her mother that day.
“She saw her mother fall on the floor, and then she saw her mother bleeding. This is the last reminder of her mother of the daughter. And to live with it, knowing that it happened, that someone did. That’s why it’s so difficult and that’s where the anger comes from. ‘
The family comes with the little girl who grew up without her mother.
Mr Hoo said the attack “will be a memory that will occur for Ms Maximen’s daughter, adding” therefore it is so painful and difficult to try and live with “.
“I think the trauma is going to be there, and trauma will raise his head if he prefers to come up. But we’ll be there for her,” he said.
The family held the funeral of Ms Maximen in October, and dozens remembered a woman who liked to spread joy.
Mr. Hoo said that their focus is now Cher’s daughter: ‘It’s hard to say how celebrating this life that has been taken so prematurely. But I think it goes into her daughter, and that is to give her daughter the best life and love and tell her who her mother was.
“I just wish we had so much more time.”
