Police say the last member of the Comanchero gang leadership group that is not facing accusations was arrested after two major drug busts.
The national vice president of the gang was accused of importing methamphetamine and cocaine.
Assistant commissioner, investigations, Paul Basham said all members of the gang lead were now facing serious accusations.
“This is a significant milestone and represents years of relentless investigative work to interrupt and keep the commands to explain criminal activities,” said Basham.
“There is no doubt that this sustained application activity has had a considerable impact on the gang capacity to conduct its offenses.”
The 36-year-old gang leader appeared at the Auckland District Court on Wednesday, accused of importing methamphetamine in the port of Tauranga in December and for his imported cocaine bond earlier this year.
He also faced the accusation of participating in an organized criminal group.
“It will be claimed that this man played a significant role in working in transnational organized criminal groups with these imports,” said Basham.
