Declan Rice has curled two excellent free kicks home to help Give Arsenal a 3-0 victory over Defense champion Real Madrid in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
Rice opened the scoring in the 58th minute bending a free kick around the wall of Madrid and inside the near post, leaving Thibaut Courtois stranded.
With the great Madrid Roberto Carlos looking at the stands, the Brazilian scored a series of spectacular free kicks in his day, Rice repeated the feat in the 70th in curved another effort in the distant upper corner.
Mikel Merino added the third five minutes later to put Arsenal to the edge of returning to the semifinals for the first time since 2009.
Only a handful of Courtois salvages prevented the score from becoming even larger.
It was the first team meeting since 2006, when Arsenal eliminated Madrid in the 16 round.
The second stage will be played on April 16 at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium
