The mother of Perth’s teenager, Amelia “Milli” Lucas, who died after a four -year battle against brain cancer, has tragically lost her own battle against the disease.
Monica Smirk, whose daughter Milli was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer in 2019, died after her fourth diagnosis of terminal melanoma, shortly after being diagnosed with terminal tumors on her back in 2022.

His daughter Milli was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which was considered inoperable in 2019, which led the Perth family to raise $ 170,000 for the controversial neurosurgeon Dr. Charlie Teo to operate with the young woman, where she eliminated 98 percent of the tumor.
Appeared “Miracle Girl” by the controversial neurosurgeon, high -risk surgery prolonged the mili for a few years, before succumbing to terminal cancer in 2021.
After the devastating death of her daughter in 2022, the WA Mum was diagnosed with inoperable tumors on her back after a diagnosis of terminal melanoma.
It was his fourth diagnosis of cancer.
He told the Sunday Times that he was taking care of Milli in 2021 when he noticed the packages on his back, but “he could not face” a biopsy result while taking care of his sick daughter.

His family confirmed the death of Mrs. Smirk on social networks on Monday night.
“Monica was surrounded by her beloved family, holding her, talking to her, loving her, while breathing final,” said the statement.
“This remarkable woman, with an insatiable search for genuine love and kindness, is now having a family reunion, dancing with her mili, Blake, Beau, Wendy and Barry.
“Please allow Grant, Tess and Joel to feel in this immeasurable pain, while honoring their life of a lifetime, forever its greatest protector.
“Always yours, forever ours, forever free.”
The family lives with a rare and inherited mutation in its TP53 gene called Li-Fronta Syndrome, which affects approximately 1000 people around the world and that makes the risk of developing certain types of cancer much more likely.
In 2016, Milli’s sister, Tess, had a similar cancer diagnosis, which survived but legally blindly left her.
Smirk survives her husband Grant, her daughter Tess and her son Joel.
