Over 500 law firms sign brief backing Perkins Coie suit against Trump

More than 500 law firms moved to submit a brief Amicus on Friday to support the Perkins case, which against the executive order of the Trump administration aimed at the company because of its presentation of the 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign.

“The gathered order in this case and the others like it, have a direct purpose for several of the leading law firms in the nation, and seek to cow any other company, big and small, to obey,” said Amaicus briefness.

“The coming threat, represented by the executive order in this case, and others, as it is not lost by anyone who practices a law in this country today: any controversial representation that disputes the actions of the current administration (or even causes dissatisfaction) now carries a risk of devastating revenge with it,” the companies said.

“Whatever the short -term advantage of the administration from exercising power in this way, the rule of law cannot last long with the climate of fear that create such actions,” they added.

The list of companies has been distributed for several weeks among the best law firms across the country, as they weigh whether to become public in support of Perkins Coie – or remain silent because of the fears that may be directed to the next one.

So far, five companies have chosen to reduce the White House deals so that they are not similarly targeted.

Two law firms, Wilmerhale and Jenner and Bloc, joined Perkins who in the administration establishment and provided emergency orders from the federal judges temporarily, banning the execution of enforcement orders on the grounds that they were probably unconstitutional.

While numerous companies “Big Law” added their names to the list, submitted on Friday, perhaps the most notable are the names that did not come in.

Kirkland and Alice, the largest US law firm by revenue, is not on the list, although the Wall Street Journal announced on Thursday that she was in conversations with the White House so that he would not be directed. Neither Latham and Watkins, the second largest revenue company, or one of the other top 10 revenue ranking companies.
