Liam Lawson got one about his rival Red Bull, finishing the fastest fifth at the second training session at the Japan Grand Prix in Suzuka, 0.445 seconds back from Oscar Pistri Australian.
Pistri finished the top to McLaren with 1m 28,114s in what was a strongly interrupted session with four red flags everywhere, Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda, ending in 18.
Lawson was also faster than world champion Max Verstappen, who finished eighth.
A total of 38 minutes were lost due to two accidents and two fires in a frustrating hour for drivers.
All eyes are in the rivalry between Lawson and the Japanese pilot Tsunoda.
Lawson was removed last week to the junior team of Red Bull Bulls after only two races, with tsunoda promoting his big prize at home in Suzuka.

It was a disastrous beginning for the F1 season to Lawson, which fell into the wet in Melbourne and ended twice in Shanghai to drastically lose the seat.
He made a solid beginning in the first training sessions, ending in 13th, 0.987, being the fastest being Lando Norris from McLaren.
