London – The death rate of the magnitude earthquake last week in Myanmar increased to 3,085 people as of Thursday morning, according to an update published by the military government of the country.
Another 4 715 people were injured and 341 others remained disappeared, the junta said.
The epicenter of the earthquake on Friday was near the northern city of Mandalay, the second largest city of Myanmar. But heavy damage has been reported throughout the country, with thousands of buildings destroyed, roads destroyed and bridges collapsed.
The earthquake also shook Thailand, where at least 22 people were confirmed killed, and 35 other injured in the capital Bangkok, according to the city metropolitan administration.

Most of the victims there were connected to the collapse of a tall building that was being built when the powerful quake struck the region.
The search and rescue teams work around the clock to find the 72 people who have been reported to have disappeared from the incident, said Bangkok officials, hoping that some may still be alive under the heavy, thick layers of debris seven days later.
City authorities have expressed concern that it can rain on Thursday, which can prevent continuous effort to search and rescue.
“We hope a miracle will happen,” the administration said in an update of the situation posted on Facebook.
“For those who are caught under the debris, if they are still alive, heat may not be a big problem as there are openings and not as hot as the higher,” the message said. “The main problem is dehydration.”
