A possible second measles group is emerging after the authorities reported another case linked to a traveler who returned last month.
Wa Health confirmed that the last case hired the highly contagious virus after attending the same location as an infected traveler who had recently returned from Pakistan.
These two cases are not related to a separate outbreak and greater than 10 cases that involve cases in the prison of Hakea, the regional prison of Bunbury and the Regional Hospital of Bunbury.
New exposure sites have been listed in the Southeast suburbs and include an IGA, a chemist and a pub.
The WA to 13 measles clash is carried during the year, with 12 of those reported in the last fifteen days. The first case for 2025 was a traveler returned from Bali in February.
Measles is highly infectious and can be extended through drops in the air nearby, such as waiting rooms or supermarkets.
The drops can remain in the air and infect people who enter a room up to 30 minutes after an infected person is gone.
Anyone who has attended the latest listed locations must monitor measles symptoms up to 18 days after the possible exposure.
Early symptoms include fever, lethargy, cough and nasal secretion, followed by a red and non -cycling eruption three or four days after the face begins and spreads the rest of the body.
There have been 46 cases throughout Australia so far this year.
With two cases in children under five, WA Health reminds parents to immunize their children against measles.
The combined measles, paper and rubella (MMR) vaccine is free through the National Immunization Program. It is administered in two doses, the first at 12 months and the second at 18 months.
Two doses are highly effective to prevent infection. The vaccine is free on WA for any person born during or after 1966 who has not had two doses.
Children under 12 months may have their first dose of MMR up to three months before if they travel to high -risk areas for measles, such as Southeast Asia.
