McMahon hijacks House Democrats’ presser after closed-door meeting outside Department of Education

Education Secretary Linda McMahon interrupted a press conference on home democrats outside the Ministry of Education to make an impromptu statement after meeting at a meeting with closed doors earlier on Wednesday.

With about a minute notice, the secretary team told some present that McMahon would make a statement.

“And I believe, and I know that the president also believes that the best education is that it is the happiest to the child, where teachers and parents, local superiors, work together and local school tips to develop the curriculum for these students is the best way that this can happen,” she said.

Reporter Mark Takano, D-Calif., Who guided the efforts to meet McMahon, and several reporters were littered with questions.

“When will you turn off the department?” Takano asked.

“We had our discussion,” McMahon replied.

She declined to answer any additional questions before she came out of the press.

Takano and a coalition of legislators requested the meeting after last month the secretary swore to office.

Later Wednesday, McMahon posted on X for the meeting.

The meeting comes after weeks of confusion in Washington, as the Ministry of Education has reduced almost half of its workforce and legislators require answers from the Trump administration.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., Veronica Escobar, D-Texas, Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., Don Beyer, D-VA., And Greg Casar, D-Texas, also attended the meeting.

The chaos came out of the agency the last time Democrats tried to meet the department officials such as Takano and about two dozen lawmakers were rejected access to the building.

This time, they met with McMahon against the background of the administration’s attempt to disassemble and head the historic repair of the department, as directed by President Donald Trump.

Members said McMahon made the right step in meeting them and that she assured them that he would work with the congress to move the legal functions of other agencies and to comply with the federal law. However, Wilson said McMahon said he was following the president’s directive when moving a student loan portfolio for more than 40 million people in the small business administration.

McMahon also told MPs of the Democrats at the meeting that there would be additional redundancies in the workforce, Takano said.

Meanwhile, the meeting seemed to leave many questions with unanswered questions, and after McMahon left the podium, Stanbury said the secretary had no plans she shared with them.

Casar, the chairman of the progressive Congress of Congress, said he became disappointed and even more worried during the meeting, as he suggested that McMahon’s mission would tingle public schools.

“What she has tried to say in the best conditions is that she wants to get rid of railings and protection for all our children and instead say, we can create it so that countries give money to private schools that we like and take money from public schools that we may not like,” Casar said.

Wilson, a senior member of home education and the workforce committee, passionately defends public education.

“In order to disassemble the Ministry of Education, it will bring a shock to this nation,” says Wilson, a former director and lifelong teacher. “Schools are the basis of this nation. When schools work, our country is.”
