Heavy rain, possible flooding expected for Windsor and Essex County

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Windsor and Essex counties Tuesday morning warning of heavy rainfall in the middle of the week.

Total rainfall is expected to reach 30 to 50 mm (one to two inches) and during thunderstorms there may be locally increased rainfall, which could lead to heavy rain, officials said.

The wet weather is expected to arrive Wednesday morning and continues until the early hours of Thursday.

Local flooding may occur in low-lying areas, officials said in a statement.

Environmental officials may issue rain warnings as storms approach.
